At Design Paradigm we create spaces in which you can work and live; that are efficient, attractive, and easy to be in. We improve the lives of our clients through the environments that we create; our design experience mandates it.

We start with a meeting to get to know each other, often in the home or at the project site. A designer interview can occur anywhere if we are getting to know each other. A synopsis of the project and any files or photos that you have been saving is helpful to focus on the specific requirements of the job. We know from experience, anything you can tell us is important. We will explain the contract to you so that all involved can decide how we can best work together.

We will set up a second meeting to review the contract, make any changes, field any questions. and plan to begin a timeline that will provide real-time expectations during the design process. If you are working with an architect or contractor on new construction or renovation, I collaborate with them on the project timeline. It is helpful to have a list of contractors, subcontractors, and artisans that you are working with.

Fears and frustrations are alleviated by knowing the amount of time it takes for construction, detailed finishing, custom work to be built and finished, merchandise to be made, and workroom items to be manufactured. All of these points will be discussed.

The design process actually includes every phase of the project, while we do not take the formal position of project manager, practice shows these skills are imperative to the success of the job.

We look forward to hearing about your anticipated needs and to tell you a few anecdotes.
